Project 12

Project 12 –A Little Background Info

Project 12 is something that was created to help our 4th grade classes get into the giving spirit of the season. For each day of the 12 days before Christmas Vacation, we are going to do one kind or giving “Project” for another person. Sometimes that project may be something for a family member, school employee, a fellow student or the community. These Projects take minimal time, but we believe that they can really make a difference in students’ lives.

We started Project 12 on Thursday with a “Something Nice About…” activity where students wrote kind and encouraging things to one another. Today, Project 2 was giving to the school by cleaning up litter on school grounds. Look for our other daily Projects on Ms. Shelangoski’s classroom blog as we will try to update it each day with what our Project was.

This is Where You Come In :)

Two Projects that we are going to do will require your assistance. We wanted you-all to know in advance so that you can prepare for them.

**Next Friday, December 10th, our Project will be writing a letter to a relative that we rarely see or visit. Please send an envelope with postage on it to school with your child. Also, please include the address for that relative. If you do not have envelopes or stamps at home, that is no problem. Please send 44 cents to school with your child and we will purchase the stamp for you. We also have envelopes your child may use for free.

**On the Monday before Christmas Vacation, December 13th, our Project for that day will be donating new or unused items for Christian Associates. They are an awesome organization that helps people who are in need in Stone and Taney County, and they inspire positive life changes by:

-Offering immediate, compassionate support without judgment

-Providing safety, shelter, & hope

-Feeding the hungry

-Keeping families in their homes

They are in mainly in need of toiletry items, such as (but not limited to):
• Soap

• Deodorant

• Shampoo

• Toilet Paper

• Razors

• Larger sized baby diapers

If you are able to, please donate one item or multiple items mentioned above by sending them to school with your child. This Project is not meant to cost you tons of extra money, so please don’t feel like you have to go out and buy a ton of stuff. This Project is simply a reminder to students that the best gift you can receive is to give and to help others in need.

If you have any questions about Project 12, please don’t hesitate to give Ms. Shelangoski a call or an email at ashley.shelangoski@kirbyville.k12.mo.us . Thanks in advance for your help! :)
